  • Student Showcase at European Women in Games Conference 2013 - 25 Sept. Meet the talent

University course leaders and lecturers from in the UK have been invited to recommend their upcoming, final year women students or 2013 graduates to attend for free the European Women in Games Conference on September 25th at Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London, SW7 4LH.  Conference organisers, Women in Games Jobs ( WIGJ), have reserved 30 of its tickets for women students to allow those selected to showcase their course and any private work to games company delegates from all over Europe with the objective of highlighting what is being taught at the UK’s top universities and ultimately making an introduction to future employers.

David Smith, Founder of WIGJ commented: “Student showcases do not seem to be common at mainstream games industry conferences which is a little surprising when final year students and graduates are always looking for the chance to show their work to prospective employers. We want to reach out to those working in games education and reassure them that there is a big demand for talented female as well as male students.  Given the sad fact that some games industry university courses have very few women students, we do expect a good proportion of available talent to want to be at the conference on 25th September. If you are recruiting or just want to meet the future leaders in our sector, do book today!

This action by WIGJ and its conference partners is part of a long term plan to encourage girls at school to consider a career in the games industry. The full programme for this years conference is at So far students from Portsmouth University, Kingston University, Norwich University of the Arts, Staffordshire University, Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Central Lancashire have all agreed to send students but there is still time to book. Interested students need to be referred or recommended by their course leaders or lecturers. Recruiters need to be booking their tickets at
